Just another good week in the mission field

This week brings us a little longer letter and once again more pics.  As always, you can check those out on the Picture page.  Check them out.

Well this week was pretty good. We confirmed three people which was cool. And we have a lot of dates set for the last two weeks of this month.  So, I am stoked and the work is really moving forward here.

I am a little disappointed with our new investigators.  It’s like we have a good week of contacting and then a horrible week.  We just get so focused on what we are doing and don’t really think about new people.  But we are trying. This week rained a lot a lot a lot a lot. Yesterday was horrible it rained from like 3:30/p to Midnight.  It was horrible.  Thanks ma for the sweet rain jacket you bought me though :)

But anyways I there are some people I want to talk about.  First is Alejandra.  She is like 28 years and has four kids.  We have been teaching her and she is really interested.  It is also cool because her kids sit there and listen too, they are like 10, 9, 6, and 4, and they are really cool kids.   And at the end of our lesson we asked the 10 year old if he would pray for us.  I wrote in his book the steps and he started.  At that moment the Spirit was so strong, it was such a strong prayer.  It was amazing to me that a ten year old boy could say a prayer like that.  It was slow and sincere.  When we opened our eyes no one really said anything and we looked at his mom and she was crying.  They are an amazing family and have a baptismal date set for the 28th.

We are also teaching who consists of a mom, three kids and a dad who is never there.  But they are awesome also.  One thing is that my companion is in LOOOOOOOOOOOVE with the daughter.  He doesn’t do anything inappropriate, but he is already thinking about returning and marrying her. haha We went to our mission leader’s house and he offered us agua de papaya (papaya water).  That sounded good, so sure why not. He gives it to us and it was the grossest thing ever.  Smelled and tasted like vomit, la verdad (that’s the truth).  When my companion wasn’t looking I poured half of mine in there. He was confused why his cup was full again.  Oh and the mission leader, his name is nochebuena.  Haha. It’s funny cause in Spanish that is Christmas Eve.

Another cool thing, I was in a different area with another missionary we were talking to this family and his last name was Jaramillo.  I thought it was cool but he is from Toluca.  My family is not from that area.  Oh and mom, you can be proud of me because I sang for some members this week.  My companion is always telling people that I can sing, but nobody has ever asked me to sing. Then someone finally asked me.  I sung “Stand by Me” and they liked it so that was good.

The people I meet here are awesome and crazy.  We knocked on this door, and the guy was like “yeah come on in.”  When we went in I saw all these crosses and pictures of Jesus and I thought, jokingly, “is this guy like a cardinal our something?”  Well it turns out, he wasn’t a cardinal, but he was a sarcedote (priest).  So it was a little weird that he invited us in and we were talking to him about our church.  But we gave him a Book of Mormon and when we saw him a few days later he said he read it and that he liked it.  But he was in his religion and he was in it for life.

I am getting better at Spanish.  All of the people say the word that i say perfectly is, Piñata. Haha.  that’s cool with me. I like candy.

Today we went to the middle of the city Zocalo.  That was awesome.  Check out the pics. The pope was there, well the dead one who died like six years ago, yeah a little gross but whatever, he was in a box. That place is awesome; I never understood why anyone would want to visit this city until I went to that place.  It’s pretty cool and the buildings are awesome. They have a bunch of stores.  In a way it kind of reminded me of New York. But with way way way more people.
I hope you are all doing good.  I want to give a shout-out real quick to Matt Duvall. Congrats on your mission bud.  I know you did great.  You need to email me and tell me some good things.  I can’t believe you are already home.

Also my big dawg Rhett.  Going to school.  That’s crazy!  Congrats on your ordination and receiving the Melchizedeck Priesthood.  Just remember, use it whenever you can. It’s a privilege and its our duty to live worthily to give it to others.  Don’t be afraid to give a blessing.  There is no such thing as a bad blessing.  USE IT!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, love you guys, miss you guys.

Love,
Haden
