This is the first week in a while that didn't have a portion dedicated to his ankle, so it is probably doing much better, which is good to know. That thing was giving him a rough time. It's good to see that he has remained positive though and continues to work hard.
Read below to see what he has to say this week.
This week was a great week.
My companion and I are starting to work harder and trying to be more and more diligent and obedient, and we are definitely feeling the benefits from it. I don’t know how to explain it, but there is just something different about us and we feel so accomplished and like we are doing what we should. That is a great feeling.
This week we worked super hard and it paid off. We had two baptisms yesterday and unfortunately I wasn’t able to do them because of my stupid ankle. But that’s not what’s important. In the service the Spirit was definitely felt by all. They had family there and they were really feeling it too. It was the same couple that we married a week ago.
We have been teaching this man Jose Luis. His wife is a member but inactive. However, she is trying to be a good example for him. They have two daughters and he is really trying. I am not sure if he is uninterested or if he is just shy, but he hasn’t been very responsive to us. But when we saw his wife in the street, she told us that whenever his daughters are mad at each other he says, "Hey, I am trying to change, and you guys are over here fighting. Come here we are going to pray together." When I heard that I wanted to just.....I don’t know.....do something happy. We invited him to church. He said he doesn’t want to come because that’s his day of rest and he just likes to relax. We explained to him that it’s the only way he is going to know if it’s true. Needless to say, on Sunday, he came to church. We were in class already when they got there, because they were late, but his wife called us out of class to say hi. When my companion saw him, he definitely did not hold in his excitement. After we went back in class we just sat there and could not stop smiling. It was awesome.
We don’t have too many progressing investigators but we do have some strong ones. We are teaching this guy who smokes...a lot. He smokes like a carton a day. We asked him to drop five a day to 20 a day and when we went back to visit him, he cut it down in half. It was great to see how hard he was trying and was also another thing that gave us a smile this week.
We need more baptisms than we have. It’s like every strong investigator we have has a problem with something. If they get baptized its going to take longer than the normal person. But we are working hard and supporting them so that they can get over whatever they need to to get baptized.
Anyways, I love being a missionary. I kinda miss America and American food and English and my family and golf and college football and golf and...................................golf. But I know that it will all be there when I get back.
Everything is going well here. My ankle is healing well. But I miss you all and hope your all doing good. Have fun in California grandma and grandpa. Wish I could be there. Congrats on the date schmorks. hahahaha. Paula, I have been there. Get well soon. haha.
Love you all,
Haden
