His contact information has been updated on the Contact Info page. We have been informed that if you are going to send a package to make sure to use FedEx, DHL, or UPS. The US Postal Service does not have a good track record in this section of Mexico.
Also, one easy alternative is to use dearelder.com to send letters to him. They will send the letters via a pouch system, so not only is delivery guaranteed, they will get there much quicker than if you mailed it yourself. For weekly deliveries your letter must be submitted by midnight Sunday night.
Haden's first place in Mexico will be right in the center of the city, about 15 min. east of the airport. It's going to be an amazing experience and we are all very excited for him.
Below is his last letter from the USA for the next year and 10 months....
Hello People,
This is my last letter that I will write on my mission from America. Monday I leave for Mexico, which is freaking insane. I am suuuuuper excited, but at the same time I don't know Spanish. My teacher thought he would be nice and tell me that the people in Mexico City speak the fastest Spanish in the world. So for the first three months or so everyone will think that I am some quiet, shy person, because I won't be speaking. We all know that's not the truth. But I am so excited to meet people and finally get out there. I cant wait to sweat off my belly too! I am estimating that in two months I am gonna be at 125-140 tops!!!! haha broma! (that means "joke" for all you gringos)Elder Jaramillo
But this week was pretty awesome. I got my travel plans and at first I was really nervous and kind of didn't want to go. But as time goes on, I am looking more and more forward to it. It's going to be sad to leave my district. Four of us are going to Mexico City South and the other six are going to Oaxaca. They are like brothers. I never knew it was possible to get so close to people in only six weeks time. But I did and I'm going to miss them.
On Saturday night one of the elders in my district was having a rough day/night/ life...whatever, he has been struggling. So we went to go give him a blessing and as I was sitting there waiting he asked me if I would give it. I like to think I know myself pretty well, but as I gave that blessing I cant explain how it felt to be surrounded by your brothers to help another brother. The words I said were definitely not Haden Jaramillo words and it was definitely the most spiritual moment of my life.
My dad sent me cookies and sunflower seeds :) thanx dad.
This week was fast Sunday and in the MTC you don't really have a choice to fast or not. You fast and you like it. But that also means we have testimony meeting. It was amazing. Like I said, our zone is really close and almost everyone got up and gave a testimony. It was amazing because since we are so close it was like watching all of my family members get up and give their testimonies about this church. One thing that I really focused on was knowing that Heavenly Father was proud of us. This week our teacher asked us "¿que quiere?" Which means, for you whities again, "What do you want?" After I thought about it, I said "to know that my Heavenly Father was proud of me." This was before the weekend and the blessing and testimony meeting. After that weekend, there was no doubt in my mind that He was with us and that He was proud of myself and the other missionaries.
I have grown so much in my time here and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be here. There is no greater place in the world than the MTC and the spirit is definitely here all the time with us. The MTC is the most spiritual place in the world and I am lucky to have had the opportunity to be here. A lot of people complain about it, but I have no doubt it is necessary. I have no idea how people were missionaries before they had the MTC. It must have been super rough. It's been a good nine weeks here. In that time I have felt the spirit more than ever before in my life and have been around so many great people.
I forgot to tell you a story about the 23 year old in my district. He is a convert and before he converted, he smoked for like 8 years. The other day he started coughing up blood and as you know, usually when you start coughing up blood it's not a good thing. So he went to the hospital and the doctors initially thought he may have cancer. Luckily, after they ran some tests he does have two spots but they don't think it is anything. However, he isn't going to Mexico with us on Monday. He got delayed a least three weeks. It is amazing to me how much the Lord is looking out for us. This kid works hard but he absolutely knows zero Spanish. I kinda feel bad for him. But I personally don't think he was ready for Spanish and he was really stressed out about it. I hope this is nothing, but I am really happy for him that he gets to have a few more weeks here to learn a lot more.
It is weird to be writing my last email in America for the next two years right now. I kinda don't wanna think about it. I love America. But I know my experience will for sure be amazing in Mexico. I love all you guys and miss all of you. To those I haven't written, I'm sorry. I don't have much free time. To those I have...you're lucky. I wont write an email next Thursday but the Monday after that you will have something. My p-day changes so that is why. But I love you all and I look forward to writing you about my first week in Mexico. Hopefully I will have ten baptisms by then. Cross your fingers. I plan on baptising three people on the plane ride over there, so I will only have 7 more to go. Anyways, I'm out. Love you all.
ADIOS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
