Now he is moving on to a new area, although it is not far from where he is now. The map on the right hand side of the blog has been updated with his location.
He tried to send pictures today, but they wouldn't go through so he will try again next week. Thanks for all the support as always.
Dear America,
Phew!!! Six weeks of the most stressful, hardworking time I have had in Mexico and it ended great.
First of all, conference was amazing. I received a few answers from the Apostles and Prophets. Also during conference we had four baptisms of an amazing family. It was kind of a miracle that they were baptized.
When Elder Call and I started in this area six weeks ago we had nothing...and when I say nothing, I mean we had nothing. No families to teach, none that were in the middle of discussions, and no leads. In the first two weeks we only sat in three houses and taught. We were always exhausted because all we did was walk and knock. We prayed for a miracle. That Sunday a sister came to church with her friend and three kids. All of them wanted to be baptized. Oh man was that an answer to our prayers. I was so relieved. We had been working really hard, and Heavenly Father rewarded us. They just fell into our laps.
Mexico is, well, Mexico. Nothing new. Chivas just beat Club America and they just elected a drug dealer as President of Mexico. And according to Tobin, they just opened the first GAP in Mexico City. So funny story, well I don't know if it's that funny, but for some reason they have been having what would be the equivalent to a "block party" in the US. But here it is extra crazy! People just shoot their guns in the air and all. In the street we find bullets that are all flat from falling on the ground and some people have had bullets break through their roofs. I haven't heard of anyone getting hurt yet so that's good. And I have to tell you about the newspapers here. So they are really graphic. I don't remember if that's how you spell that word. But they always have pictures of dead people on the covers and they don't hold back. But today I was walking by and I saw a picture of a police officer with two legs in his hands. It just made me laugh a little bit.
So I am finally, after six months, changing areas. I am going to an area called, Presidentes. I am kinda excited. I got a new companion who knows how to speak Mayan so I am going to have him teach me. And I don't know why, but they called me as a district leader. I guess the mission president receives revelation for this type of stuff. I am excited to go and try and help other missionaries. I have been helped a lot by great leaders and I hope to do the same for them.
Anyways, love you all. I hope to get some pictures sent and sorry that I have been lacking on the letters a little bit for the last weeks. I am tired. Haha. I will try and keep you guys more updated with my life. I am good and loving life a lot right now. So freaking happy!!!!!!
Love,
Haden
