Enjoy....
Que paso de Mexico (What's up from Mexico),
I still love it here but this week was a little rough. We didn't really reach our goals and since everyone is going back to school in a couple weeks everyone is on vacation. We didn’t have a chance to teach Ulysses this week, which was a real disappointment. I really wanted to and was bummed that we couldn’t. The Alfaro family that we are teaching is really close to a baptism. We were going to commit them this week and we could have, but our president wants a parent to be there and even though they are of age to make a decision for themselves she wasn’t there so we didn’t have the opportunity.
We have been teaching the family that we live with and they are awesome people. They asked me what my name was and I told them Hoots, so now they just call me Hoots. Haha. But they are Jehovah Witnesses and it is hard to get them to say Dios (God) instead of Jehovah. But they are awesome people with awesome hearts. Their little boy is ten and his name is Jesus. He is such a funny kid. Every day he comes and knocks on our window to hang out with us, but we have to tell him that we are studying. Hopefully we can get them to commit to a date for baptism this week because they are reading and praying a lot. They always come to our door and ask us questions and they seem to really accept what we tell them.
The good thing that came out of this week is that we had four investigators come to church. It was awesome. Usually we walk to their house at 8:30/A and they say “Oh, we can’t today “or they just don’t answer. But this week we knocked on their door and she opened it and said “Hold on. I will be just two minutes.” We were stoked. It got even better because she brought her daughter and 2 sisters. Wow it was awesome. On top of that, when we got to church there was another investigator there. Let’s just say we were two happy missionaries. Teresa was the other investigator there. For reference, she was the one we taught with the rats in her ceiling. This week we were teaching her again and I couldn’t focus, because I am afraid of rats. During the lesson I understood everything that was going on, but I swear something was crawling on my leg and I freaked out. When I looked down I realized that my companion was just shaking his foot (like RJ) and then I felt like an idiot. But after that it was hard to focus because that was all I could think about. And I kept hearing things behind me too, so that didn’t help. Luckily, she is cool and everything is going well with her.
I still love the city. My companion and I had a little argument today but that is over with. I just snapped. I understand more and more Spanish, but not enough to be able to teach as much as I want to. Everything just built up and I kind of snapped. He understands though and we talked it out.
Anyways got to go do work. I love and miss you all. Hopefully next week i will tell you about my fechas (appointments) I have.
